Standing on the famous site of Amsterdam’s former Sweelinck Conservatory of Music, the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam opened at the end of 2011. This magnificent Neo-Gothic building was originally built at the end of the 19th Century and in its new incarnation, it has been transformed into a contemporary luxury five-star hotel.

Located in the heart of Amsterdam’s museum district (Museumplein) on Van Baerlestraat, the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam is close to The Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Royal Concertgebouw. Also, the luxury shopping avenues, P.C Hooftstraat and Van Baerlestraat, sit right on the hotel’s doorstep as well as the charming Vondelpark and the lanes of the Jordaan neighbourhood. The historical centre of Amsterdam is within walking distance.

Designed by Piero Lissoni (leading Italian architect and interior designer), the Conservatorium Hotel is a true design hotel and combines historical architecture with modern design. The hotel features 129 bedrooms and suites, an array of restaurants and a bar, as well as a selection of cutting-edge events and banqueting spaces.

Conservatorium Hotel is also home to the Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre – an urban retreat that is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy. Spanning over 1000sqm, Akasha is the finest holistic spa in Amsterdam offering a range of signature treatments, massages, marrying innovative Western practices with ancient Eastern traditions and featuring 18 m x 5 m indoor swimming pool, a whirlpool, Hammam, sauna, Watsu pool and relaxation areas. Location and Transfers

The Conservatorium is ideally located in the heart of the city’s major museum square (Museumplein) and the Royal Concertgebouw. It is close to the designer-fashion district of P.C. Hooftstraat and Van Baerlestraat, with unrivalled access to all of the capital’s cultural destinations including the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum and the Van Gogh Museum.
The hotel is 25 minutes from Schiphol International Airport.

Accommodation

The Conservatorium occupies eight floors and has 129 rooms and suites ranging in size from 25 m2 to a spacious 170 m2. The suites offer a good choice of sizes and styles in addition to the room categories, which range from Junior to Penthouse. In respect to the building’s original lofty ceilings, almost half of the rooms have been transformed into interesting duplex layouts with large windows and views.
All rooms and suites include double-glazed windows and are equipped with state-of-the-art in-room technology and feature luxury linen and amenities.

Superior Single Guest Rooms – approximately 25 to 30 m2 and are well laid out and cozy in size. Superior Duplex Guest Rooms – approximately 30-35 m2 and are well laid out and cozy in size. The room offers comfortable working space with free Wi-Fi and state-of-the-art in-room entertainment. Comfortable separate sitting area on the ground floor. The bathroom features a large rainfall shower, luxurious designer amenities, bathroom LCD mirror TV as well as micro cotton towels. The bedroom area is located on the mezzanine level

Deluxe Guest Rooms – vary in size from 30 to 45 m2. The room offers comfortable working space with free Wi-Fi and state-of-the-art in room entertainment. The bathroom features a large rainfall shower, luxurious designer amenities, bathroom LCD mirror TV and micro cotton towels

Deluxe Duplex Guest Rooms – vary in size between 32 and 55 m2. Some of the rooms have great views of Amsterdam overlooking the Van Baerlestraat and others overlook the lobby. The room offers comfortable working space with free Wi-Fi and state-of-the-art in room entertainment. Comfortable separate seating area on the ground floor. Corner Suites – have great views of Amsterdam overlooking the Stedelijk Museum and the Van Baerlestraat. The 41-48 m2 suites, on the corners of the building, have interesting historical features

Junior Suites – at 52 m these rooms offer comfortable working space with free Wi-Fi and state-of-the-art in room entertainment

Grand Duplex Suites – have great views of Amsterdam overlooking the Courtyard, the Lounge or the Paulus Potterstraat. The suites vary in size from 55 to 64 m2. The rooms offer comfortable working space with free Wi-Fi and state-of-the-art in room entertainment. Comfortable separate sitting area on the ground floor. The bedroom area and the second bathroom is located on duplex level

Rooftop Suites – have great views of Amsterdam overlooking the Stedelijk Museum and the Van Baerlestraat. The 64 m2 sizes suites have interesting historical features and are divided into different levels by a few stairs. There is a sitting and workspace area with free Wi-Fi and state-of-the-art in-room entertainment. The extra large bathroom has a large bath, separate rainfall shower and separate toilet

Van Baerle Suite – these are large 64 m2 suites with 4.5 m high ceilings. The room offers comfortable working space with free Wi-Fi and state-of-the-art in room entertainment. Royal Duplex Suites – occupy 72 m2 on two levels. The room offers comfortable working space with free Wi-Fi and state-of-the-art in room entertainment. On the lower level, there is a separate seating and living area with a large dining table. Residence Suites – look like a classic Amsterdam townhouse, designed for families or guests interested in an extended stay. The Residence Suites vary in size from 48 to 63 m2. Each has a separate living space with kitchenette, balcony and all the luxury amenities for which the hotel is known. The I-Love-Amsterdam Suite – a beautiful 155 m2 triplex with a high-level view of the Amsterdam skyline. Located on the top floor, the space is defined by the historic architecture and the original wooden beams. The room has a rooftop terrace, which offers a 360 degrees view of Amsterdam. The suite is divided over three levels with a spacious bathroom and creates an original and entertaining experience in Amsterdam. The Penthouse – the 170 m2 Penthouse features a large living room and dining room with a support pantry for special events. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the historical Conservatorium hotel façade with Amsterdam beyond. With its super-large 80-inch monitor screen, the dining room can also be used as a private cinema or entertainment area. The Penthouse also offers a kitchenette and a treatment area. Essential to the Conservatorium vision of elegance, good living and cultural distinction has been the creation of restaurants and bars whose appeal extends from guests of the hotel to Amsterdam society itself and the city’s international visitors.

All dining at the Conservatorium is under the direction of the celebrated Dutch-chef, Schilo van Coevorden. His style of food has continuously evolved through the years, adapting and adopting traditions from all over the world while retaining the virtues of simplicity and focus on locality and seasonality.

Conservatorium Brasserie and Lounge – located in a beautiful internal courtyard which has spectacular floor-to-ceiling windows and a glass ceiling. The Conservatorium Brasserie offers contemporary classic all-day dining, including salads, sandwiches and the seasonal plat du jour. The Brasserie also serves Traditional Afternoon Tea. The Conservatorium Lounge, intimate and furnished with plush sofas and coffee tables, provides a sophisticated sanctuary for a relaxing break

Tunes Restaurant situated in the spacious historic part of the hotel overlooking Paulus Potterstraat and the Stedelijk Museum, it is becoming one of Amsterdam’s leading restaurants. It has a truly cosmopolitan feel with its set ‘à la carte’ menu and two eight-course tasting menus, including a vegetarian option. With its stylish and enthusiastic service the restaurant specializes in offering beautifully prepared authentic local dishes based on seasonally sourced products

Tunes Bar – with its chic décor and shimmering ambience, is an elegant yet casual haven (including a separate smoking lounge) in which to enjoy classic drinks, exclusive cocktails and gourmet tapas-style food. At night the deep banquettes, tactile fabrics and subtle lighting create a chic intimate space, whilst during the day, the huge windows fill the room with light showcasing designer Piero Lissoni’s signature transparent bar and folded steel staircase
