Calala Island, Calala Island, Nicaragua
Located in an undiscovered part of the Caribbean, Calala Island is a luxury private resort just off the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua. Spanning 11 acres, this beautiful unspoilt paradise accommodates a maximum of 8 adults and 2 children and is available to hire either on an individual suite basis or exclusivity.
Developed in complete harmony with natural and local communities, Calala Island employs a total of 25 staff to ensure every need is met. The beautifully appointed, beachfront suites make the perfect setting for you to enjoy this little piece of unspoilt paradise. With only 4 suites on the entire island, privacy is a standard at this private island.
Guests can enjoy lounging by an incredible infinity pool with swim-up bar and there is also a massage suite tucked away at the far end of the island in a particularly tranquil setting.
There is a choice of two restaurants; a casual beachside lunch area and a bar and a more formal evening dining restaurant and bar. Meals can also be served in a variety of locations around the island including on guests own terraces.
Just a few 100m, or a 5-minute paddle across from the island lies Little Calala Island, a tiny islet with just one umbrella where guests can while away an afternoon exploring the shipwreck on its shore, snorkelling around the reefs or just relaxing in solitude.
There are many other activities on offer from snorkelling, kayaking and paddle boarding to swimming with turtles, fishing and cooking master classes.
Location and Transfers
Calala Island is nestled on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua. The closest international airport is Managua. The island can be accessed by an internal flight followed by a scenic boat ride. Alternatively, a direct helicopter ride can also be arranged from Managua airport.
Designed by leading architect, Matthew Falkiner, each of the four suites were carefully created with the guests in mind. Lying directly along the beach, and using the finest handcrafted furniture from Nicaragua, each suite perfectly marries you with your surroundings. With only 4 suites on the entire island, complete privacy comes as standard. As does waking up to the birds tweeting. And a sunset that must be seen to be believed.
Each suite has a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with semi al-fresco shower and twin sinks. They each have a private veranda and personal, secluded beachfront palapas with hammock and couch. The master suite is the largest of the four suites with a sitting area and extra bed for two children.
The Caribbean and fine dining is rarely a match to be seen. Here at Calala Island, the food is taken seriously. The Executive Chef, Tom Morrell, has a wealth of experience, having worked for some of the top Michelin starred restaurants in the UK and Europe, he is constantly showcasing his elaboration of simplicity and pushing the boundaries of what the wonderfully fresh local produce has to offer.
